10 Keys to Weight Loss

To lose weight you need a strong commitment, the right attitude, the right foods, the right exercise and you need to get rid of STRESS! Here are some keys that will open the door to your weight loss. By using these keys you can have permanent weight loss, feel full of energy and be your ideal weight without diet or struggle.

1) Why Stress Causes Weight Gain - Four stress based factors cause weight gain - nutritional, emotional, physical and environmental. When dieting people usually work on the body and forget about the mind. This contributes to why 97 out of 100 people who diet regain the weight back in less than a year. Stress affects how we look, think and feel. The real cause of weight gain is stress. You CAN manifest and maintain your weight loss goal by reducing, eliminating and controlling stress, on all levels. Here are the 4 types of stress and how they effect weight gain

2) Be Positive. “You are what you think” is just as important as “You are what you eat.” Pioneering efforts of Doctoral Clinical Hypnotherapist Candidate, Linda Mackenzie, found that visualization, which can control stress, plays a major role to permanent weight loss. “The mind is so powerful! 3) Don’t Skip Meals - Eat Smaller Meals. Eat smaller meals every 2-3 hours because it decreases the cortisone, cholesterol and insulin levels in your body, which ultimately decrease the fat storage in your body. When you skip a meal cortisone levels rise and burn muscle tissue and not the fat that you need to lose. The pancreas also secretes more insulin which actually increases body fat. Eating frequent, smaller meals keeps insulin and cortisone levels balanced, reduces cholesterol, burns more fat and reduces fat storage in the body.

4) Choose the Right Foods. A low fat, vegetarian diet comprised of vegetables, whole grains, legumes and fruits, will slow down your digestion, absorb food better and steady blood sugar levels in the body. This makes the body work more efficiently and helps eliminate cravings. Eating mostly raw foods is also good for the body. Our bodies need some fat to enable our immune system, so a low fat diet better than a no fat diet. Limit dairy products which are high in animal fats. Avoid sugar, salt, white flour, white rice, artificial flavorings & coloring, food preservatives, soda and partially hydrogenated oils (e.g. margarine, vegetable shortening and salad oils) These oils have a negative effect on our body’s cardiovascular, reproductive, metabolic, and hormonal systems. These partially hydrogenated oils actually change the size, number and composition of our fat cells. Replace these hydrogenated oils with Omega 3 & GLA Fatty Acids such as Flaxseed Oil, Olive Oil, Borage Oil, Wheat Germ Oil or Evening Primrose Oil. These oils have body rejuvenating qualities and increase your metabolism and decrease fluid retention.

5) Build Lean Muscle Tissue. Lean muscle tissue burns 5X as many calories as other body tissue. If you start a resistance training exercise program, such as weight lifting, for 3 times a week, 30 minutes a day you will lose weight and not have to reduce your calorie intake.

6) Drink Water. Drinking 3 quarts of water a day suppresses your appetite, helps get rid of body toxins and allows the liver to process more fat. Drinking 1 gallon of water a day burns 300 calories which is equivalent to running 3 miles.

7) Fat Burning Vitamins, Supplements & Herbs. There are many vitamins, supplements & herbs that help you lose weight. Remember to check with your healthcare practitioner to find the right ones for you. Here are a some to check out:
